The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Fatima Muhammed on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, over alleged Naira mutilation.
The arrest followed a viral TikTok video showing the woman cleaning mucus from her nose with a 500 Naira note.
EFCC operatives tracked and apprehended her within the Maiduguri metropolis. She is currently under investigation at the Maiduguri detention facility.
Charges will be filed in court once the investigation is concluded.
