An 18-year-old woman who appeared injured in a viral video has pleaded with authorities and members of the public not to take action against her husband despite allegations of repeated domestic abuse.

The footage, which circulated widely on Monday, showed the young woman with visible facial injuries as neighbours confronted the man identified as her husband over claims that he had been assaulting her.

In the clip, the man tried to pull her away as he insisted on taking her with him.

“Madam, leave my wife. You want to drag my wife with me,” he was heard saying.

A bystander, however, accused him of ongoing violence against the teenager.

“You want to kill her. This girl is just 18 years. This man is brainwashing her; he is beating her daily,” the person alleged.

A second video later surfaced showing the woman at a hospital alongside human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who spoke about plans to have the man arrested.

But the young woman strongly objected, pleading that no action be taken against him.

“Please, I am begging you, people. It will be as if it is my fault. The mother does not like me, please. Let me just carry myself and be going,” she said.

She added, “I am not going to the marriage again; you people should leave him. I won’t go to the marriage again; don’t arrest him.”

The videos have sparked widespread concern online, with many users questioning her safety and urging authorities to intervene despite her request.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency responded to public concern, stating: “We are on it. Thank you for tagging us.”
