Controversial singer Portable has criticised the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, over his decision to confer a chieftaincy title on social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

In a video shared online, Portable questioned why the monarch chose to honour VDM, whom he described as a “pornstar,” while also taking aim at the king’s authority to bestow such a title.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “Who gave you king that you are conferring another man with title? Why will you give VeryDarkMan a chieftaincy title, a pornstar for that matter. Hope there’s nothing between you too. There was a time you were abusing Ooni of Ife, who are you again?”

Portable also criticised the monarch’s traditional standing and questioned what impact VDM had made to deserve the honour.

“Oba that you didn’t do tradition properly. Whose life did VeryDarkMan transform that you are giving him such title, ‘Ataseye’?” he said.

His comments come days after the Oluwo of Iwo conferred the title of Atayese of Yorubaland on VeryDarkMan, a move that has continued to generate mixed reactions online.
