Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign England international Morgan Rogers in a deal worth £117 million.
The Blues have been searching for a new attacking option ahead of the new season, and reports claim Aston Villa have accepted Chelsea’s offer for the 23-year-old.
Rogers is said to have agreed personal terms on a six-year contract that will run until 2032, with the option of an additional year. His medical is reportedly scheduled for Monday.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play on either wing, is understood to be keen on the move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s long-term project under new manager Xabi Alonso is believed to have played a key role in his decision.
Arsenal had also shown strong interest in signing Rogers, but the England international has reportedly chosen Chelsea as his preferred destination.
If completed, the transfer would become Chelsea’s most expensive signing ever, surpassing the £106 million the club paid Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in January 2023. It would also set a new British transfer record, overtaking the £116 million fee Manchester City reportedly agreed to pay Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.
Chelsea are still expected to strengthen other areas of the squad, but the club views the potential arrival of Rogers as a major statement signing amid interest from rival clubs.
