A Federal High Court in Kaduna State has fixed March 31, 2026, to rule on the bail request filed by former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The new date was set after Tuesday’s court session, where lawyers representing both sides presented their submissions on the application.
Defence counsel, Ukpon Akpan, appealed to the court to release his client on bail, stressing his constitutional entitlement and the importance of having enough time and freedom to prepare his case.
However, the prosecution objected, insisting that the allegations against the former governor are serious and warning that granting bail at this stage could disrupt ongoing investigations.
