Abia State Governor Alex Otti has come to the aid of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu by approving payment for the first phase of her medical treatment as she continues to battle serious health challenges.
The development was announced by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr. Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, who thanked Otti for responding to the actress’s plight.
Sharing the update on X, JMartins wrote:
“His Excellency @alexottiofr have just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs ngozi nwosu to approve the first part of our medical bills.
While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can.
On behalf of the creative industry, we all Thank you immensely My leader. Ndewo sir.”
Ngozi Nwosu, a veteran actress who has spent decades in Nigeria’s film industry, has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness, with several appeals made to the public to assist in funding her medical care.
Although Governor Otti’s intervention will cover the initial stage of her treatment, calls for additional financial support remain as she continues to require further medical attention.
The governor’s assistance comes only days after the actress made an emotional appeal from her hospital bed, revealing that she had been admitted for three weeks and urgently needed three life-saving surgeries estimated to cost ₦30 million. She appealed to fans, colleagues, and well-wishers to help raise the funds needed to continue her treatment.
