Nigerian-American actress Folake Olowofoyeku received a warm homecoming in Imo, Ilesa, Osun State, where she was honoured with traditional chieftaincy titles in recognition of her accomplishments and commitment to her roots.
During the colourful ceremony, the Hollywood star was installed as the Yeye Oba and Yeye Atayese, titles which mean “King’s Female Chief” and “Peacemaker.”
The event attracted family members, traditional rulers, community leaders and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate one of their own. The honour reflected the community’s admiration for her achievements on the global stage and her continued connection to her hometown.
For Olowofoyeku, the chieftaincy titles represent another major milestone in a career that has brought her international success while allowing her to remain deeply connected to her Nigerian heritage.
Best known for portraying Abishola in the popular CBS comedy series Bob Hearts Abishola, Olowofoyeku has established herself as a respected actress, musician and producer in Hollywood.
Her acting credits also include Mufasa: The Lion King, Death Race 2050, Armed, Female Fight Club, Hellbenders, Westworld, How to Get Away with Murder, Modern Family and Transparent. Outside acting, she performs music under the stage name The Folake, blending Afrobeat, funk, rock and soul into her unique sound.
