Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has disclosed that the wedding ceremony which recently caused a stir on social media was never genuine, describing it as a publicity campaign and social experiment.
The content creator made the revelation after videos of him and a woman dressed in matching traditional wedding outfits went viral, leading many people to believe he had secretly tied the knot.
The clips sparked widespread reactions, with critics accusing GehGeh of going against his long-held views on marriage. According to him, even members of his own family were surprised and questioned why they had not been invited.
Speaking during an interview with StreamRewind, GehGeh said the entire event was intentionally planned to gauge public reaction.
«“We organised everything as a normal promo. And so far, apart from the fact that we purposely did it, I still wanted to get the public’s reactions.”»
He also explained that the stunt was designed to address what he believes is a misunderstanding of the message behind his “GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University.”
According to GehGeh, he has never advised people to completely avoid marriage, despite what many believe.
«“Some people have a misunderstanding about my GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University. When you see some people, the major thing they have been saying is that GehGeh told them not to get married, but I got married.”»
He reiterated that his views have always favoured polygamy over monogamy.
«“I did not kick against marriage. I said, ‘Do not marry, and even if you must marry, go for polygamy.’ This is because polygamy is the path that guides a man’s heart from heartbreak.”»
GehGeh added that he believes having multiple wives reduces the chances of one woman manipulating a man emotionally, saying that principle is central to the philosophy he promotes.
