African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has declared that the opposition is ready to face President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, insisting they will respond to whatever challenge comes their way during the campaign.
Amaechi made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today as discussions around the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum.
Responding to Tinubu’s confidence about securing another term, the former Minister of Transportation said the president is free to express optimism until the election campaign begins.
“Let the president continue to tell the public that he would win the election at all cost until we get to the field. Whatever the president wants us to do at the field, we will do it. I’m not worried about what he wants to do. We will meet at the field,” he said.
Amaechi also took a swipe at the current administration, arguing that Nigeria urgently needs a new direction.
“Nigeria has to be rescued. What the president and his men are doing is insulting my faith,” he added.
The former Rivers State governor contested against Tinubu for the APC presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 election but lost the primary.
He has since joined the ADC and was named the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the party’s 2027 presidential campaign.
