Nollywood actress Tayo Adeniyi has encouraged women in their late 30s and 40s to stop feeling incomplete because they are unmarried or do not have children, saying a happy and fulfilling life does not depend on either.
In a video shared on social media, the actress urged women to let go of societal pressure and avoid making life-changing decisions simply to meet expectations.
Addressing women who have tried unsuccessfully to get married or have children, Adeniyi said they should not see themselves as failures.
“You do not have to get married and you do not have to have kids. If you’re in your 40s and you’ve tried your best to find a man to be married, or perhaps you’re married and you haven’t got any kids, please… you can be whole without these things,” she said.
She cautioned against remaining in unhealthy relationships or accepting poor treatment just for the sake of becoming a wife or a mother.
“Don’t put up with nonsense because you want to be married or because you want to have children. It’s not worth it. If it does not come naturally, let it go,” she advised.
According to the actress, women should focus on enjoying their lives and doing what brings them peace and fulfillment instead of constantly worrying about marriage or childbirth.
“Be happy with you. Do whatever you need to do to make you happy on your own without these two things. Please, please, please,” she added.
