Cynthia Morgan has spoken in support of Peter Okoye as the singer continues to open up about his troubled relationship with his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye.
The singer, who previously worked under the brothers’ record label, said her own experience in the music industry gives her a different perspective on the situation. Cynthia had also previously accused the label of wrongdoing during her time with the outfit.
Reacting to Peter’s series of emotional posts, she said musicians are often expected to prioritise their careers regardless of what they may be experiencing privately.
She explained that artistes can go through emotional pain, grief, pressure and even abuse while continuing to present a strong image to the public. According to her, an artiste who eventually begins expressing such emotions may simply have reached the point where they can no longer keep everything inside.
Cynthia also pointed out that the public rarely knows the full story behind the lives of entertainers, especially older artistes whose careers were built around maintaining a certain level of mystery.
She stressed that many musicians make significant personal sacrifices to create the public image that fans admire.
The singer concluded by offering Peter her support and praying for his peace and salvation.
“I read somewhere that Peter’s emotions are destructive. Now here is my take on this and I am speaking from experience. As an artiste, most of us are conditioned to always put our craft over anything. Love, grief, abuse, pressure etc.
“So when you see an artiste that you think has become destructive just know they’ve maxed out and can no longer pretend and until they vent or go to therapy dey will never be normal.
“Artistes sacrifice so much to be the people you admire… these new artistes might have it easier cause we are in an internet age and people are less judgmental. But the older ones and especially if you come from the Psquare circle some of our brands were built on mystery. You think you know us but you don’t.
