Afrobeats singer Davido has raised alarm over a statement attributed to Senator Francis Fadahunsi concerning members of the Accord Party ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
The singer shared a video of the senator and provided what he described as the translation of the remarks, which allegedly contained threats against Accord members and opposition to their participation in the election.
Davido expressed concern that such comments were coming from a serving member of the National Assembly, particularly as the state prepares for the governorship poll.
According to the singer, Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, allegedly called for Accord members to be attacked and said they would not be allowed to vote even if they presented their Permanent Voter Cards on election day.
Sharing the video and his interpretation of the statement, Davido wrote:
“This was a statement by Senator Fadahunsi now on video. Translation:
‘From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too. This is a Federal Government election. On election day, even if they come with voters card, we won’t allow them to vote’ – Senator Francis Ade Fadahunsi, Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, a whole sitting senator!!”
