Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has announced that she has “left the streets”, a phrase often used to suggest that someone is no longer searching for a romantic partner.

Tems made the revelation during a TikTok livestream on Monday, although she did not disclose further details about her current relationship status.

The singer explained that her decision was partly influenced by her frustration with men who she said had wasted her time.

“I don’t like it when guys waste my time. But for me, never again. I don’t have that problem anymore. I have left the streets; I wouldn’t even say I was ever on the streets,” she said.

Tems has previously spoken about her experiences with men who approach her, particularly her concerns about their intentions.

In an interview with YouTuber Korty EO last year, the singer said many of the men who approached her romantically appeared to be more interested in her physical appearance than in developing a genuine connection.

She explained that she would rather have meaningful and deeper relationships built on sincere intentions.

Tems’ latest comment has since sparked speculation among fans about whether the singer may be in a serious relationship, although she did not provide any confirmation during the livestream.
