Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the President, saying he has never betrayed the confidence placed in him.

Gbajabiamila made the remarks on Saturday during his 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, where he also addressed allegations surrounding the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the matter said in its September 2 preliminary report that it found no evidence that Gbajabiamila established, authorised or participated in the activities of the purported council. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) also reported that it found no evidence linking him to the appointment of the organisation’s alleged director-general, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

Speaking at the event, Gbajabiamila said the controversy had subjected him to unexpected scrutiny and questioned his integrity.

“The past few months have tested me in ways I never expected. Stories were written, strange accusations were made, lies were told, and my integrity was questioned,” he said.

He said the reports from the investigations were now available to the public and maintained that the relevant processes had been followed despite what he described as pressure to condemn him before the investigations were concluded.

Gbajabiamila also said Tinubu was confident that he had no involvement in the alleged activities linked to the purported agency.

“Let me also say, Mr. President knows his Chief of Staff very well. Having worked closely with me for many years, he was therefore supremely confident that I was not in any way involved in those nefarious things,” he said.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said the allegations would not interfere with his responsibilities in the Presidency.

“No amount of money, no amount of blackmail or lies, whether sponsored from within or outside, will detract me from my work and the work Mr. President has given me to do,” he said.

Reflecting on his relationship with Tinubu, Gbajabiamila said his loyalty had remained intact even when he did not agree with every political decision taken by the President.

“In politics, loyalty is the currency we spend the most. I have been with Mr. President for many years. I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me. I stayed loyal then and I remain loyal now. My commitment to his Renewed Hope agenda is unshaken,” he said.

The empowerment programme, according to Gbajabiamila, was organised to support about 5,000 residents across communities in Surulere. Beneficiaries received various forms of assistance, including cash support, vehicles, electric tricycles, buses, security patrol vehicles and an ambulance.

Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, also commended Gbajabiamila for his continued support for constituents and urged support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

The PFIPC controversy emerged after questions were raised over the purported agency’s inclusion in the 2026 budget. The House committee subsequently reported that it found no valid law, presidential order or other lawful instrument establishing the organisation.
