FIFA has given the green light for goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to play for Nigeria after completing his nationality switch from England.

The approval, confirmed on April 6, means the Wrexham AFC first-choice keeper is now eligible for call-up by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle and the national team selectors.

Okonkwo had previously represented England at youth level, making 10 appearances across the U-16, U-17, and U-19 teams between 2016 and 2019.

Nigeria had shown strong interest in the former Arsenal Academy player following his impressive performances at club level. The 24-year-old has been a key figure for Wrexham, contributing significantly to their rise from the National League to the Championship with three consecutive promotions.

He has also been in fine form, ranking among the leading goalkeepers for clean sheets this season with a 68 percent save rate, and has recorded 40 clean sheets in three seasons.

Okonkwo will now compete for a spot in the Super Eagles squad alongside Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye of Udinese Calcio, and Francis Uzoho.
