Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has submitted the nomination of Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo to the State House of Assembly for consideration as the new Deputy Governor.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
The move follows the provisions of Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which grants a governor the authority to appoint a replacement when the office of deputy governor becomes vacant.
The vacancy arose after the former Deputy Governor, Abdussalam Gwarzo, resigned from his position on March 27, 2026.
Governor Yusuf, after holding consultations with relevant stakeholders, urged lawmakers to act swiftly in screening and confirming the nominee.
Garo, aged 48, is an experienced political administrator with more than two decades of involvement in both elective and appointed public service roles.
