Victor Osimhen made an immediate impact on his return from injury on Sunday, scoring as Galatasaray secured a commanding 3–0 victory over rivals Fenerbahçe in the Istanbul derby.

The Nigerian striker, who recently returned from a spell on the sidelines, broke the deadlock in the 40th minute after Galatasaray dominated the opening stages of the contest.

Fenerbahçe had earlier been handed a chance to take control, but Anderson Talisca failed to convert from the penalty spot in the 13th minute, a miss that proved significant in the outcome of the match.

The game tilted further in Galatasaray’s favour in the second half when Fenerbahçe were reduced to 10 men following Ederson’s sending-off in the 62nd minute.

Shortly after, Baris Alper Yilmaz extended the lead from the penalty spot in the 67th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.

Lucas Torreira later added a third goal in the 83rd minute to seal a comfortable win for Okan Buruk’s side in one of Turkish football’s fiercest rivalries.

The result strengthens Galatasaray’s position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig with 64 points, stretching their lead over Fenerbahçe to seven points in the title race.
