Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, with his appointment now awaiting confirmation by the Senate.

The nomination was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the move is part of efforts to deepen reforms in the power sector, strengthen electricity supply stability, and encourage long-term investment in the industry.

The President has formally transmitted Tegbe’s name to the Senate for screening and approval.

The nomination follows the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions.

Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is a seasoned fiscal and economic policy expert with over three decades of experience across both the public and private sectors.

He previously worked as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led major initiatives in fiscal reform, governance, and institutional development.

He currently serves as Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, where he oversees bilateral cooperation programmes between Nigeria and China.
