Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the recall of engineers who were earlier sacked and redeployed during its industrial dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday, the refinery said the decision followed what it described as a conditional pardon after internal disciplinary measures taken over operational disruptions.
The company explained that the move came after a thorough review process, as well as appeals from stakeholders, respected individuals, and some of the affected engineers.
Management noted that while the earlier actions were necessary to protect operations and maintain workplace standards, it has now chosen to offer a second chance to the staff involved.
According to an internal memo signed by the Group Vice President, Oil & Gas, Devakumar Edwin, all affected engineers will be invited for a meeting and then reassigned to resume duties at the refinery. The recall also includes staff who did not accept earlier redeployment options.
The refinery stressed that the decision reflects its commitment to fairness and rehabilitation, while maintaining that discipline, professionalism, and adherence to company rules remain strictly enforced.
It added that the move should not be mistaken for leniency, warning that any future misconduct would attract swift and decisive disciplinary action.
The management reiterated that the recall is part of efforts to stabilise operations while reinforcing a strict culture of accountability within the organisation.
