FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to banks and property owners allegedly supporting the Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), threatening sanctions over the opening of accounts for the sale of nomination forms.
Wike warned that any bank found assisting the faction in such activities would face serious consequences, including possible closure of its premises.
Speaking on the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP, the minister also reacted to moves by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is reportedly involved in setting up an interim National Working Committee (NWC), despite a Supreme Court ruling against such action.
“I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters. Any bank that allows them to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble,” Wike declared.
He accused Makinde of disregarding the court’s judgment and engaging in what he described as a self-serving political arrangement within the opposition party.
“I never knew Governor Makinde was involved in this 419 thing,” Wike said, alleging that the move amounted to disrespect for the Supreme Court and deepened divisions within the PDP.
Wike also commented on recent political realignments involving opposition figures, suggesting that internal issues were responsible for defections rather than external influence.
The remarks add to rising tensions within the PDP, which has continued to grapple with leadership disputes and factional struggles ahead of future political contests.
