Content creator Carter Efe has come under fire online after making controversial remarks about Afrobeats star Wizkid during a livestream at E-Money’s residence.
The livestream took place shortly after Carter Efe arrived to receive the ₦50 million cash prize he won following his celebrity boxing victory over Portable.
While speaking during the session, Carter Efe said:
“The person I want to f!ght with now is Wizkid and I want his son, Boluwatife to be there too”
His statement immediately sparked backlash from Wizkid fans, who accused him of crossing the line and disrespecting both the singer and his family.
Some social media users also criticised singer Kcee for laughing during the livestream instead of cautioning Carter Efe.
One fan wrote:
“Kcee could’ve warned Carter Efe to stop shading Wiz, but instead he laughed and encouraged it. Wizkid literally gave him his biggest hit, ‘Pull Over’”
Others, however, defended Carter Efe and argued that Wizkid’s supporters should not complain about disrespect after allegedly mocking late music legend Fela Kuti in the past.
One user reacted:
“If there is nothing wrong with what Wizkid said and how he disrespected Fela Kuti, a whole legend, then there is nothing wrong with what Carter Efe is doing to Wizkid.”
Another added:
“I don’t support Carter Efe disrespecting Wizkid or his family. But if Wizkid FC is fine with disrespecting Fela, they can’t cry when Carter Efe does the same to Wiz.”
