Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has addressed the backlash she received online after making a post shortly following the reported death of actor Alex Ekubo.
The actress came under criticism from some social media users who questioned the timing of her upload amid the mourning surrounding Alex Ekubo’s passing.
Responding to the reactions, Regina explained that the post had been scheduled earlier and was automatically published before she had the chance to take it down after the tragic news surfaced.
She expressed frustration over what she described as fake outrage from people who constantly try to police how others react online, insisting that she should not be forced to grieve or behave according to public expectations.
According to her, people are quick to attack celebrities whether they mourn publicly or remain silent, making it impossible to satisfy everyone.
She wrote: “A scheduled post popped up at the time it was supposed to, and before I could get there, I have started seeing so many insults on the post.
“Not like I owe anyone any explanation o but you see y’all with fake love that always want to tell others how to live their life or how to show emotion ‘ori yin ti buru’.
“The one you will abuse people for mourning the dead all cause you feel they never celebrated them when they were alive or is it you wanting to tell others how to act at a certain time.
“Like you cared that much, don’t bring that here o. This is my space, and you won’t tell me how to act here.”
Her reaction has continued to stir conversations online, with supporters defending her explanation while others maintained that public figures should exercise caution during sensitive moments.
