One of the kidnapped teachers of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Michael Oyedokun, has been killed by his abductors.
He was reportedly beheaded in a disturbing video allegedly released by bandits on Sunday, which later surfaced online and was obtained by our correspondent via Telegram on Monday.
In the footage, the victim was seen tied up and forced to speak before being brutally killed, a development that has intensified fears over the fate of other victims still in captivity.
The incident has plunged the community into mourning, with residents and families of the abducted persons calling on security agencies and the Oyo State Government to urgently step up rescue efforts.
Confirming the killing, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, said the governor had expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies would be deployed to secure the release of remaining victims.
He also disclosed that about six suspects linked to the kidnapping incident have been arrested.
Olanrewaju further sympathised with families of security operatives from the army, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilantes who lost their lives during a rescue mission.
According to him, the operatives died after encountering Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the abductors.
He added that injured personnel are currently receiving treatment and responding positively, while the government has pledged to cover all medical expenses.
