The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to detained social commentator Justice Chidiebere, widely known as “Justice Crack.”

The ruling was delivered after the Federal Government formally opened its case against him on Monday.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court set bail at N5 million, with a requirement that the defendant produce one surety in the same amount.

Justice Crack is being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged cybercrime offences connected to a viral video involving commentary on the Nigerian Army.

Court proceedings on his bail request had earlier been delayed last Thursday after a disagreement emerged between two lawyers, each claiming to represent him in the case.
