Lawmaker representing Surulere I constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has announced his withdrawal from the ongoing political race.
The announcement was made in a video circulating on social media on Wednesday, where the actor-turned-politician alleged that his supporters were being intimidated and prevented from fully participating in the process.
In the footage, Elliot claimed that several of his supporters in his ward were denied access during the exercise.
“My name is Desmond Elliot. In all zones, they have been intimidating and stopping us. I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward, if you go outside, those are my people outside, and they have not been allowed so I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. Good luck, thank you,” he said.
Elliot, who currently represents Surulere I under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was seeking re-election before announcing his withdrawal.
