South African sensation Tyla stole the spotlight at the 2026 edition of the American Music Awards after emerging as one of the night’s biggest winners.

The talented artiste secured the Best Afrobeats Artist award, beating strong contenders such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema and Moliy.

She also picked up the Social Song of the Year award for her chart-topping single, Chanel, becoming the only African act to win an award at this year’s ceremony.

Before the event, Tyla had already made headlines after receiving four nominations, making her the most nominated African artiste in the history of the AMAs.

Her hit track “Chanel,” released in October 2025, gained worldwide attention and enjoyed massive success on streaming platforms. The song reportedly crossed 320 million streams on Spotify while also earning nominations in the Best Music Video and Best Female R&B Artist categories.
