Nigerian influencer Diana Eneje has sparked mixed reactions online after revealing that her admiration for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has declined due to its increasing popularity in Lagos.
The social media personality said the luxury SUV, once her favourite car, no longer appeals to her in the same way because it has become too common among elites and influencers in the city.
“Everyone in Lagos has a G-Wagon, and it’s annoying because it used to be my favourite car. I don’t think I still want one because I like to be unique,” she said.
Her comment highlights a shift in preference driven by what she described as the overexposure of the luxury vehicle, which has long been seen as a status symbol in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class remains one of the most recognisable luxury SUVs in Lagos, often associated with wealth, influence and high social status. However, Diana’s remarks suggest that its growing visibility may be reducing its exclusivity for some lifestyle influencers.
Her statement has since generated debate on social media, with users split between those who agree that luxury trends are becoming oversaturated and others who argue that popular status symbols naturally lose exclusivity as more people acquire them.
