A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after alleging that he received ₦100,000 from a group he described as bandits during a TikTok live session, only to later be asked to pay back ₦100 million.
The man, identified as Odumayo Olufemi, shared the story in a video circulating on social media, where he recounted how what appeared to be a harmless online giveaway allegedly turned into a shocking situation.
He said he joined the TikTok live session on June 6 after the hosts encouraged viewers to follow their page in exchange for cash rewards.
According to him, many participants believed it was just a fun engagement and did not suspect anything unusual.
“I have come to confess I came across some bandits during a live session yesterday, 6th June. During the live session they promised anyone who follows their page money and I followed the page. We thought it was a joke,” he said.
Olufemi explained that after following the page and providing his details, he unexpectedly received a ₦100,000 credit alert, adding that others in the live session also received similar payments.
However, he said the situation changed shortly after the money landed.
He claimed that he later received an email demanding ₦100 million from him.
“As soon as I received the money I got an email. Nigerians, please come to my rescue. They are demanding ₦100,000,000,” he said.
“Please come to my rescue. I also received money. I was amongst the people who joined the live session. They gave me N100,000 and are now demanding N100,000,000.”
