BlownBoy Entertainment, the label owned by Nigerian singer Ruger, has explained the reason behind his recent break from releasing new music, linking it to a personal legal dispute with a former partner.
In a message addressed to fans, the label said the singer had been dealing with private challenges after an ex allegedly filed a lawsuit against him, claiming “emotional distress” and “damages.”
The statement noted that the situation has now been resolved, marking what it described as a fresh start for the artist.
It read in part:
“Dear RU Nation,
We know it’s been a while since Ruger dropped new music.
For some time, Ruger was caught up in a series of personal challenges after someone he dated decided to sue him for alleged ‘emotional distress,’ and ‘damages’. That chapter is now behind him. A new chapter begins. A new energy emerges.
Ruger is back to doing what he loves most making music. And best believe, he’s been cooking.
NEW MUSIC DROPS THIS AUGUST.”
The label also thanked fans for their patience and continued support during his absence from the music scene.
It further announced that Ruger will return to live performances this summer, with scheduled shows in Belgium, Málaga, Bali, Malawi and the United States.
“August belongs to us. Stay tuned, enjoy your summer, and get ready for what’s next,” the statement added.
