A young Ghanaian lawyer, Sara Araba Tettey, has died after collapsing during a FIFA World Cup viewing session in Kumasi.
The 26-year-old, who was recently called to the Ghana Bar, was reportedly watching Ghana’s opening match against Panama with friends at Standard Hostel in Bomso, near the KNUST campus, when the incident occurred.
What began as a lively and celebratory evening turned tragic shortly after the match ended, when she suddenly became unresponsive while still in the company of friends.
Panic immediately set in as those around her rushed to seek help before she was quickly taken to the KNUST Hospital. Medical personnel reportedly attempted to revive her for about 45 minutes using CPR and other emergency procedures.
Despite the efforts, she was confirmed dead.
Sara was an alumna of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Faculty of Law and had been called to the Bar earlier this year. She was said to be working with O & A Legal Consult and was regarded by colleagues as a promising young professional.
Her sudden passing has left family, friends, and colleagues in deep shock, coming at a moment that was meant to be filled with celebration.
