Cristiano Ronaldo etched his name deeper into football history on Tuesday after becoming the first player ever to score in six different FIFA World Cups.
The Portugal captain achieved the feat in his side’s Group K clash against Uzbekistan in Houston, giving his team an early lead with a close-range finish from João Cancelo’s cross.
The goal ended Ronaldo’s run of 10 matches without scoring at major international tournaments and marked another milestone in his illustrious career.
It was also his 144th goal in international football, scored in his record-extending 230th appearance for Portugal.
Ronaldo made his World Cup debut in 2006 and has now found the net in every edition of the tournament he has featured in, from Germany 2006 to the 2026 finals.
His strike against Uzbekistan further saw him equal the Portuguese World Cup scoring record held by Eusebio, with both legends now tied on nine goals at the tournament.
