England were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against Ghana in Boston, slowing the momentum they built with their thrilling opening victory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Having defeated Croatia 4-2 in their first Group match, the Three Lions arrived full of confidence but struggled to break down a disciplined Ghanaian side that spent much of the contest defending deep and limiting clear-cut chances.
The West Africans offered little attacking threat, failing to register an attempt on goal until five minutes into the second half, but their defensive resilience frustrated England throughout the encounter.
England came closest to finding a winner in the closing stages. Bukayo Saka tested goalkeeper Benjamin Asare with a fine effort, Nico O’Reilly rattled the crossbar, while Harry Kane blazed over from close range. Marc Guehi also saw a late header cleared off the line as England’s pressure failed to produce a breakthrough.
The stalemate leaves England with four points from their opening two matches, while Ghana earned a valuable point thanks to a determined defensive display.
