Omoyele Sowore will remain in detention until June 30, 2026, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to decide on his request for bail reinstatement and the reversal of a bench warrant issued for his arrest.
Justice Mohammed Umar adjourned the matter to that date after hearing submissions from both sides and adopting their court processes on Wednesday.
The activist and publisher is seeking relief from the court after his bail was revoked on June 16 due to his absence at a scheduled hearing in his ongoing cybercrime and criminal defamation case.
The Department of State Services (DSS) filed the charges against Sowore over social media posts on his verified X and Facebook accounts in which he allegedly described President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal.”
Sowore has denied the allegations and maintains his not-guilty plea as the case continues.
