President Bola Tinubu is expected to unveil a commemorative book in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his death.
The memorial programme, scheduled for July 13, will feature interfaith and interdenominational prayer sessions, with family members, close associates, government officials and admirers gathering to celebrate Buhari’s life and legacy.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, disclosed the plans while briefing journalists on Wednesday.
Buhari died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 after serving as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023.
According to Mustapha, the event is designed to honour the late leader’s memory, pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and reflect on the values of unity, faith and national cohesion that characterised his public service.
He also revealed that President Tinubu would publicly present a tribute book titled, Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari, containing messages from world leaders, diplomats and other prominent figures who paid tribute to the former president after his death.
Mustapha explained that the publication is not intended for sale or fundraising but will be distributed free of charge.
He further called on Nigerians to remember Buhari in their prayers, expressing hope that the anniversary would strengthen national unity while bringing comfort to the late president’s family, friends and supporters.
