Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance as she continues her battle with cancer.
Cynthia revealed that she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and underwent surgery alongside chemotherapy. Although she initially completed her treatment, the disease later returned. Following a recent medical examination, doctors informed her that the cancer had spread to her bones, requiring more intensive treatment.
She disclosed that she now spends over ₦600,000 every month on treatment and has also been advised to undergo radiation therapy and another surgery. According to her, the financial burden has become overwhelming for her family, forcing her to seek support from the public.
Speaking in an emotional appeal, she said:
“I was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. I underwent surgery and received chemotherapy, but unfortunately, the cancer returned. Since then, I have been in and out of the hospital.
“After my recent medical check-up, my doctor informed me that the cancer has spread to my bones, and the cost of treatment has become much more expensive.
“I now spend over ₦600,000 every month on treatment, and it has not been easy. My doctor also said that I will need radiation therapy and another surgery.
“This is no longer something my family can afford on our own, so I am appealing to Nigerians for help.
“Even my hands are swollen. The breast where I first had surgery has been affected again, and the pain is beyond anything I can describe.
“Please, I want to live. I want to survive. I am asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone who can assist, I sincerely need your help. I need to receive the proper treatment so I can survive.
“I am begging you, my brothers and sisters, please help me. Any amount, no matter how small, can make a difference. Even ₦1 or ₦2 can add up and help me receive the treatment I desperately need for this cancer.
“Please help me.”
