Davido has opened up about the unexpected events that led to the casting of the female lead in the music video for his hit song, Aye.
The Afrobeats star revealed that the woman originally chosen for the role was a beauty pageant contestant, but she had to withdraw just before filming after her manager was informed that she was still bound by her pageant contract.
Recalling the incident, Davido said:
“The girl who was meant to be the lead was in a pageant. We were about to shoot when her manager called to say the pageant organizers had reminded them she was under contract, so we couldn’t use her. We ended up using her makeup artist and when the music video blew up, the two of them fell out.”
The singer’s revelation has sparked reactions from fans, with many surprised to learn that a last-minute replacement ended up starring in one of the most iconic music videos of his career.
