Popular content creator DJ Chicken has reportedly been arrested over controversial remarks he allegedly made about Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
The reported arrest comes days after a viral video in which the social media personality made inflammatory comments about the President’s son sparked widespread outrage online.
The development was disclosed by a man identified as his lawyer, who claimed that DJ Chicken was apprehended in Ikeja and is currently being held by security authorities.
According to the lawyer, “DJ Chicken is now with the authorities. He was arrested at Ikeja. He is now at Ikeja Police Headquarters, but I’m very sure it is DSS. He was arrested in connection with the statement he made some days ago about the son of the President.”
Appealing for leniency, the lawyer urged President Bola Tinubu, government officials and Nigerians with connections to the Presidency to intervene on the content creator’s behalf.
“President, please forgive Chicken. He’s not okay mentally. He’s my own personal project. As a criminal lawyer, I picked Chicken because I wanted to give back to society. Yes, he has messed up, but please we are begging.”
He further pleaded with fans and well-wishers to help secure DJ Chicken’s release, saying, “If you know someone in government, help us so he can gain his freedom. Please.”
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Department of State Services (DSS) nor the Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the reported arrest.
