Jim Iyke has shared the emotional story of how his decision to pursue acting instead of law led to him being kicked out of his family home.

Speaking during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the Nollywood star recalled that after graduating from university at about 18, his father wanted him to immediately proceed to law school. However, he turned down the plan because he was convinced acting was the career he was meant to pursue.

According to Jim Iyke, his father could not understand his decision at the time, despite being someone whose resilience had greatly inspired him.

He said he watched his father overcome political setbacks, betrayals and constant relocations across different countries, adding that those experiences taught him never to settle for half measures.

“My dad is a very resilient man. I’ve seen him rise and fall so many times. I learned from the best. But he didn’t understand that it’s just the chip off the old block,” he said.

The actor explained that the values his father instilled in him made it impossible for him to abandon what he believed was his life’s purpose.

“Everything that was taught and ingrained in me was don’t half-ass it, don’t do half measures. If you believe in something, go all the way. You can’t drum that into a son and it won’t become his belief system. So when I saw something I knew was going to be my lifelong pursuit, my convictions were beyond reproach,” he added.
