A staff member at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Frank Omorojie, has been commended after he recovered and returned a misplaced purse containing cash and important travel documents.

The incident happened on Wednesday at Terminal 2, near the Rwanda Air check-in area, where Omorojie reportedly found the unattended item.

The purse contained $1,700, a Nigerian passport, a British passport, and a credit card.

Airport sources said the discovery quickly raised concern over how to locate the owner, but Omorojie did not hesitate as he handed the item over to Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers.

Following standard procedure, the items were documented and passed to the Customer Service unit, which immediately issued a public announcement to trace the owner.

A short while later, a Nigerian passenger travelling to Kigali, Rwanda, who had believed the items were gone for good, was reunited with all her belongings.

Officials described the gesture as a strong example of integrity and professionalism, saying it reinforces confidence in airport staff and operations.

Omorojie said his action was guided by simple honesty.

“I just did what was right,” he said.
