Fresh allegations have emerged from the family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo as another relative, Clinton Ekubo, has spoken publicly about the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death and burial.
In a Facebook post, Clinton threw his support behind previous statements made by family members David and Ify Ekubo, saying they were right to demand answers. He accused Alex’s stepmother of sidelining the Ekubo Okwareke family in major decisions concerning the actor’s life.
According to Clinton, Alex’s marriage was allegedly arranged by his stepmother with the daughter of her close friend without the knowledge or involvement of his paternal family. He also claimed the actor gradually distanced himself from his biological relatives while becoming increasingly attached to his stepmother’s family.
Clinton further alleged that none of Alex’s relatives were informed that the actor had been ill until news of his death became public. He claimed the burial plans were organised by Alex’s friends and stepmother without consulting the wider family, adding that the funeral was conducted in a manner that left many relatives with unanswered questions.
He also questioned details surrounding the actor’s death, including what he described as blood clots on Alex’s eyes, and insisted the family deserved a proper explanation. Clinton stressed that the family was not interested in any inheritance but only wanted clarity about what happened.
He wrote:
“Honestly speaking, My brother David Ekubo and my sister Ify Ekubo were right in their write up.
“His step mother arranged her best friend daughter for Alex for a wife without Ekubo Okwareke family’s knowledge and the marriage was done just like that. We were shocked when we heard that Alex was married.
“Alex lost interest in our family and became a member of his step mother’s family to the extent that he attend every marriages done in her family.
“Alex Ekubo was sick, nobody knew till his death. He died we the family don’t know that our son was sick and dead till it was announced to the public by his step mother. Alex Ekubo rejected his biological mother while he was alive and doesn’t want to do anything with her. His biological mother is still alive.
“His burial arrangements was planned and arranged by his friends and step mother without the members of the family.
“Nobody is explaining what really happened to our son. How come the blood clot on his eyes. Is blood clot on his eyes part of the cancer also?
“Please, take away properties from this, Ekubo Okwareke family demand an explanation on our son since she could not explain to us indoor.
“ALEX IKKENNA EKUBO OKWAREKE, REST IN PEACE.”
