Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has publicly apologized to content creator Caramel Plug following the backlash over an AI-edited photo she shared on social media.

The controversy began after Caramel accused Anita of replacing her face with Anita’s own on one of her photos and posting it as if it were her original image. Caramel questioned why her picture had been altered despite the two not knowing each other.

Responding to the criticism, Anita explained that the image was created by an AI designer she was trying to promote and insisted she never intended to cause any harm.

She wrote: “Chai my Ai boy said it was an inspiration from Ai, this guy wan implicate me chim @caramel.plugg. Sorry baby. I can’t even be caught up in this kind of mess, I’m so sorry.”

She continued: “But you look great… He put my face and my hair, chai this boy oh. Me wey be picture and clothes myself, chaiii.”

Anita also expressed her frustration with AI-generated content, adding: “You see why I don’t like dis Ai things. Just negodi. Na where I wan help person oh, promote him work oh.”

Her apology has since drawn reactions from social media users, with many weighing in on the growing use of AI-generated images and the need to properly credit original creators.
