Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya has spoken candidly about her faith, love life and decision to remain celibate for roughly three years.
During an interview on City FM, the actress explained that her Christian faith has continued to grow stronger, influencing her outlook on romantic relationships. She said she has become comfortable with being single and no longer feels the same need for a partner.
Adesanya said having close friends means she still has people to talk to and spend time with, but she knows the difference between friendship and seeking a romantic relationship.
She also disclosed that she still receives romantic advances regularly. According to her, an earlier interview with actor Lege Miami resulted in several men who had not approached her in a while suddenly contacting her again.
The actress admitted that her habit of joking about relationships sometimes makes it difficult for people to determine when she is being serious about her love life.
Speaking about her situation, she said:
“Unfortunately my Christian life is getting stronger oh. I don’t, for real for real. It’s strange? It’s not strange. With your work with Jesus, at some point, it doesn’t bother you any longer.
“I have lots of friends. I can pick my phone, we will talk. I can even say, okay, let’s go and eat dinner. But I know my mind. I know I’m not, it’s not about having relationship with anybody.
“Well, no relationship for like maybe three years. I have lots of people ask me out on a daily basis. But sometimes I just feel like people just say it for saying.
“The interview I did with Lege Miami, that thing caused a lot of problems. People were calling me, all the toasters that I’ve not had in a while. That’s the thing, we don’t know when you are serious. You are always joking about it.”
