Tamunosoye Karibi George has been named Miss World Nigeria 2026 after emerging victorious at the national pageant’s grand finale held in Lagos on Saturday.

Representing Bayelsa State, she beat contestants from across the country to claim the coveted crown during the glamorous event staged at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.

The competition, organised by the Silverbird Group and themed “Pride, Power, and Purpose,” tested participants beyond beauty, with leadership sessions, interviews and community service initiatives playing a key role in the selection process.

Following weeks of activities and assessments, Tamunosoye was announced as the overall winner, succeeding Joy Mojisola Raimi, who held the title in 2025. Raimi went on to represent Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World competition in Hyderabad, India, where she secured a place among the Top 20 contestants and finished among Africa’s top five representatives.

Although newly crowned Miss World Nigeria, Tamunosoye is already familiar with success on the international pageant stage. In 2024, she represented Nigeria at the Miss Africa International pageant in Accra, Ghana, where she emerged winner.

The 26-year-old, originally from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, now takes on the responsibility of representing Nigeria on the global stage as the country’s new beauty queen.
