Bayern Munich and Arsenal have secured their spots in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after overcoming Real Madrid and Sporting CP respectively in their quarter-final ties.
In Munich, Bayern edged Real Madrid 4-3 on the night at the Allianz Arena, sealing a 6-4 aggregate victory in a thrilling encounter. The game burst into life almost immediately, with Arda Güler scoring just 40 seconds in after a costly mistake from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Bayern responded quickly as Aleksandar Pavlović restored their lead with a header, but Güler struck again from a free kick to level the tie on aggregate.
Harry Kane then delivered a crucial moment before halftime, netting his 50th goal of the season to swing the advantage back in Bayern’s favour.
The second half remained tense, with Real Madrid pushing for a comeback, but their hopes suffered a major blow late on when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off in the 86th minute after receiving a second yellow card for deliberate handball.
Meanwhile, Arsenal progressed in a more controlled fashion, holding Sporting CP to a goalless draw to secure a 1-0 aggregate win and book their place in the last four.
