Belgium booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 with a dominant 5-1 victory over New Zealand, while Iran were left waiting to discover if they will also advance.

After drawing their opening two Group G matches, Belgium produced a convincing display to finish top of the group and qualify for the knockout stage.

Leandro Trossard starred with two goals, while Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers also found the net in the emphatic win.

Trossard opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a close-range finish from a corner before adding his second shortly after halftime. De Bruyne extended the lead with a powerful strike from outside the box, Lukaku headed home the fourth, and Saelemaekers completed the rout late in the game.

The victory eliminated New Zealand, who finished the tournament with just one point.

In the other Group G fixture, Iran and Egypt played out a 1-1 draw.

The result saw Egypt qualify for the Round of 32 as group runners-up, where they will face Australia.

Iran, however, must wait for the remaining group-stage matches to determine whether they progress as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.

Belgium, who topped the group, will face a third-placed qualifier from Groups A, E, H, I or J in the Round of 32.
