Arsenal F.C. have officially been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, sealing the title without even kicking a ball on Tuesday night.
Mikel Arteta’s side were left watching developments elsewhere, as title rivals Manchester City F.C. faced AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, knowing any slip-up would confirm their long-awaited triumph.
City were held to a 1–1 draw, a result that left them four points behind Arsenal with just one game remaining, making it mathematically impossible to catch the North London club, who sit top of the table with 82 points.
Although winning the league while not playing is far from the ideal way to lift the trophy, Arsenal will not care as they finally end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title after years of near misses and three consecutive runner-up finishes.
For Arteta, it marks a major milestone in his sixth full season in charge, as he finally guides the Gunners across the finish line at the Emirates Stadium.
