Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has become the outright holder of the record for the most assists in a single Premier League season.

The Portuguese midfielder achieved the feat as the Red Devils cruised to a 3-0 victory over Brighton on the final day of the campaign.

Fernandes registered his 21st assist of the season when his corner-kick was met with a powerful header from Patrick Dorgu to give United the lead.

The milestone sees Fernandes move past the previous record of 20 assists jointly held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in the 2002/03 season and Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City in 2019/20.

He had equalled the record last weekend after providing the assist for Bryan Mbeumo’s goal in United’s 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest.

Fernandes’ latest achievement comes just a day after he was crowned Premier League Player of the Season, adding to the FWA Footballer of the Year award he recently won.
