Nigerian music star Burna Boy has reacted to criticism surrounding his purchase of a custom one-of-one Venuum Widebody Bugatti Chiron, a luxury hypercar reportedly valued at over ₦9 billion and believed to be the most expensive car in West Africa.

Following news of the acquisition, some social media users questioned why the singer would spend such a huge amount on a vehicle, asking which roads he intended to drive it on given the state of infrastructure in many parts of the country.

Responding to the comments, Burna Boy wrote:

“I buy Bugatti, dem ask which road I go drive am? No be today we dey do road like Julius Berger.”

His response suggested that he has long been involved in constructing or improving roads, using the remark to dismiss the criticism over his decision to purchase the luxury vehicle.
