Nearly six years after Chadwick Boseman’s death, a dispute over his estate has erupted into a legal battle between his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, and the late actor’s family.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Boseman’s brothers, Derek and Kevin, filed a lawsuit on behalf of their parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. They are asking the court to remove Taylor as the administrator of Chadwick’s estate and compel her to release the inheritance the parents were awarded.
The lawsuit claims that although a 2022 court ruling divided the estate equally between Taylor and Chadwick’s parents, the parents have yet to receive their share.
The family also accuses Taylor of withholding key information about the estate, alleging that royalties, residual payments, intellectual property rights, real estate, and undisclosed bank accounts were not included in official records. They further claim that Chadwick’s likeness and intellectual property are being managed through Chadwick Boseman Inc., a company they say is controlled solely by Taylor.
According to the filing, the family believes these assets should benefit all of Chadwick’s legal heirs, including his parents. They argue that Taylor’s management of the estate has lacked transparency and are urging the court to intervene.
Taylor has not publicly responded to the allegations.
Chadwick Boseman, celebrated for his roles in Black Panther and 42, died in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a private battle with colon cancer. He did not leave behind a will.
