Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has been given the green light to return to professional football after winning part of his appeal against a four-year doping ban.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that the 25-year-old can resume playing immediately, bringing an end to a suspension that has kept him out of competitive action since November 2024.
Mudryk was provisionally suspended by the Football Association in December 2024 after an “adverse finding” for the banned substance meldonium. He was later handed a four-year ban by the FA, prompting him to challenge the decision before CAS.
After reviewing the case, CAS ruled that Mudryk could return to competition “with immediate effect” after he accepted that he had breached anti-doping regulations and agreed to a suspension covering the time he had already served.
Chelsea welcomed the outcome, saying the club is looking forward to having the Ukrainian attacker “back to full fitness, back into the squad and back on to the pitch.”
The Premier League club also confirmed that Mudryk will travel with the team for their pre-season tour.
